The Big Prince book

Inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s classic tale, the Big Prince is a captivating story for children and adults, tackling in a surprisingly accessible way some of the most pertinent issues of our times, such as environmental degradation and Artificial Intelligence.

An originally beautiful tale of hope for our humanity narrated by a little girl who encounters a prince from a more technologically advanced planet.

“I looked at the picture of his planet, which the Big Prince had drawn for me. I had been holding it since the start of our conversation. This was what the people on his planet could see in their surroundings – nothing nice at all.

The reason for this blindness, which was a mystery for everyone on the highly technological planet, seemed obvious to me: Why do people have eyes? To be able to see the beauty of the world.

Beauty is fundamental to human existence. “

What Readers Are Saying

A beautifully written book that I couldn’t put down. Highly recommend the book for teachers and educators. It is a wonderful way to approach and open a discussion with children about many topics such as consumerism, environmental protection, alienation, artificial intelligence, love, gratitude, the power of music, the power of beauty and nature. Very cleverly written, wonderful characters, excellent world building.

This book is inspired by “The Little Prince” and, similarly, it can be enjoyed by adults although narrated by a child and written for children. The artificial intelligence called “zeos” are depicted like giant insects which can do anything for the people. The book has some philosophical appeal as well. I enjoyed, underlined and remembered some sentences. So, I highly recommend it for adults too!

The planet of Xorel is a metaphor of what the Earth can soon become if we don’t start caring and protecting it. It’s a warning that easily touches the heart of the reader. It is also a story about love and its power to save. What impressed me most is the magic of the man-made violin which reverses the blindness while violins created by the super robots don’t have such healing effect. It makes the story optimistic in the end saying that humans are irreplaceable. I truly believe in
humanity and enjoyed the way the author presented it as a value we have to keep and protect.

This is such a captivating book! I loved being able to find some parallels with the land of stories and the plot was so interesting! All the characters and places (Cremona, Verduno) are tied up nicely and the end is my favourite part when the girl takes a decision to give her violin to the Big Prince and save the people on his planet. The end leaves the reader curious – what would
happen on Xorel? Will the people reverse their blindness? I wish to know what the author thinks.
Real page turner and loved all the characterisation – I hope there will be a next book!
